Sanghyang Jaran is a type of traditional theater in Bali that is presented in the form of dance that is religious and specifically functions as a dance repellent or plague. Until now, the Sanghyang Jaran Dance was not held merely as a spectacle. Sanghyang Jaran dance is a dance of kerauhan (possessed) because of possessed by hyang, spirits, heavenly nymphs, and other animals that have destructive power such as wild boar, monkey, or who have other supernatural powers.
This dance is the cultural heritage of Pura Dalem Kedewatan Sanur intended as a repellent of danger, namely by opening up spiritual communication from residents of Sanur with the supernatural. This dance is performed by male dancers, accompanied by male and female choirs who sing worship songs such as songs and many more. In this dance there is always an important element, which is big smoke / fire.
